our apartment...

a few have requested, mainly my mom, that i take pictures of our apartment and post them here. there are a few of them, so if you're not interested...stop scrolling down now:D we really are loving it here in palo alto (we're technically located in menlo park though). justin is enjoying researching about corporate governance and he is learning a lot. i am having fun making our apartment 'home'...it's the first time i've been able to actually decorate since we were living in a mostly furnished basement (thanks to the in-laws) for the almost two years we've been married. i also have to throw out a big huge thank you to my parents for selling their big home in the cottonwoods and dispersing their furniture to all the kids. we love what we got and feel blessed that we have had so much help in that department. oh, and another thanks to my older sister, shanda, who has helped with every little question i have as far as where to put what picture and has also donated many items to the hansen-decorating fund. she's the best!

this is what you see when you open our door. we live in a complex of about 70 apartments. there is a pool and it has been fun using that, especially on the hot days.

next we have a view of the kitchen. sorry about the dark photo. i was too lazy to retake it. before we moved in, they remodeled basically our entire apartment (and we got in before they raised the rent ~$200! another blessing). they put new faucets and granite countertops in the kitchen and bathroom. they painted all the doors and cabinets white and repainted the walls. they also recarpeted the entire apartment because they knew a baby would be here. so nice of them!

the next two are of our living room/office. it is a really big living room and we don't have room for an office anywhere so we put all of it in one room. it's not the perfect set up, but it definitely works.

i had to post my most recent project. this is located in the hallway leading to the bedrooms. finally, after almost two years of being married i put my bouquet to use. it was starting to flake off and get in the way so (this is also to the credit of my sister, shanda) i took some of the flowers and put them into three different shadow boxes with three different pictures of justin and me from our wedding. so darling, don't you think! i especially love the first picture you can see. i love my husband! he is the very best husband and best friend. ok, i'll stop, this is about our apartment, not how much i adore and can't get enough of my sweetie! :D

need i say anything? brown and blue...such a good match!

our wonderful room...with justin's most prized possession (out of our furniture, that is)...the king size bed. how did we ever sleep without one? on the other hand, i have no idea why we have a tv in our room, we have never used it. maybe i'll sell it?

jorgen's room. i am still impressed how i threw his room together. who needs new furniture (well, except for the crib...thanks, mom!) when you can paint old furniture that is free and make it look like almost new?

oh, and i almost forgot....the office (with kitchen and living area in view):D and jorgen patiently waiting for me to rescue him from the saucer. i love that boy!

well, there you go. what do you think?
