Nana!

We have been blessed to have Justin's mom, Gloria (aka Nana), here for this week and it has been heavenly! She has helped out so much with Jorgen and Shelley and made my life easy this past week. She will be missed when she leaves tomorrow!

Nana flew in late at night so Jorgen didn't see her until the next morning...he woke up and walked out to the kitchen and this is what I walked out to...SOOO CUTE! He loves his Nana!

Nana is gorgeous! She and Shelley look so cute together.

A yawning baby is such a precious site!

Like Father, Like Son

Where does Jorgen get his funny faces?

Heaven

Heaven is...

Being able to snuggle your little girl while she soundly sleeps on you. O I love it!

Binky Boy

This represents what Jorgen thinks binkies are for...playing:D These two binkies have been his teething toys and he used to put a whole entire binky in his mouth and just munch on it. He is such a character!!

Can't Get Enough

Shelley is just too cute for words! A friend of mine, Mallika (the same one who took the fun maternity shots of me a few months ago) took some great pictures of Shelley when she was ten days old. They are so darling! I love my little girl!

Just Playing Around

Jorgen is so much fun!!! Tonight he decided to make up his own game after family home evening. He would just from the ottoman to the couch over and over again. He probably did this twenty times before we decided to take a few pictures...he was pretty sweaty by this point. He also surprised us with a few somersaults - he has attempted these before but never fully made it around...today he did it! Go Jorgen! I can't get enough of his cute smile!!

Daddy's Girl

Today on the way home from a meeting Justin turned on a CD I had in the car and the song that came on was "Daddy's Girl" by Peter Cetera and he said he got a little teary-eyed. I think our little Shelley is definitely going to be a daddy's girl!

Sunday afternoon nap....she looks like a little football in his arms.

I can't get enough of her cute face! (Neither can Jorgen, the scratch on her forehead is from her loving brother trying to be gentle, but he got a little carried away:D)

Doggie Blast Off

Justin is such a fun dad! He thinks of the most creative and fun games for Jorgen. Last night was 'doggie blast off' so here are a few pictures to give you a taste of what it's like:

Justin added blankie as a cape for a few blast offs. So funny!

Things To Remember

So this is a totally random post, but I've been meaning to write down some things I don't want to forget about my little Jorgen.

Every time Jorgen sees little Shelley's umbilical cord he points to it and says 'black bean.' (sounds like 'me mean'). I think it is so funny!!

Any time we ask Jorgen, "Jorgen, who's your best friend?" Jorgen always responds, "Tutu!" (He came up with that all on his own and hasn't varied much since he started responding that way....even with Daddy and Mommy trying to persuade him that we are his best friends. He knows where his loyalty lies.

Whenever I ask Jorgen what he wants for lunch, he promptly responds, "noo noo." He has this special love for whole wheat noodles. Sometimes he'll respond with a 'bac lee.' I'm glad my boy likes veggies! When Gigi was here, she had him chowing down whole spinach leaves and hemp seeds. Go Gigi!

To go to sleep, Jorgen always ask for "goggie" and "didi." And his favorite songs to sing at nap time and bed time are 'Daddy' (I'm so glad when Daddy come home) and 'Walk' (Teach me to walk...)

There are many other things I want to remember so this is the start of an ongoing list...

Pool Time!

So what do you do when it's super hot outside...play in the pool of course. We bought Jorgen this little pool a few weeks ago but just set it up the other night and he broke it in today! He played in it for over an hour and had so much fun! This will come in handy next week when I'm on my own with the kids and need fun activities to keep Jorgen cool and happy...don't you love his smile - that is what he does when I ask him to show me his teeth. Such a cutie!

98 degrees!

Northern California is supposedly has a moderate climate but that last few days have proven otherwise! It reached 100 degrees outside two days ago and yesterday was about 97 degrees. Well, if you live in an apartment with air conditioning or if you don't have air conditioning but have trees nearby or live on the first floor, you won't feel the effects of the outside heat as much. We, however, have none of those luxuries. Now I know that there are millions in the world who live with such temperatures daily and deal with it just fine - I am a weakling in this department because I like a cool apartment....especially for my children. Jorgen dealt with the heat just fine - other than sweating his little heart out while he played. Little Shelley had a much harder time. Her poor eight day old body just wasn't ready to deal with such temperatures. Her poor little hands and feet broke out with little sweat bubbles and she was so lethargic and sleepy the whole day (not her normal self). She didn't eat like she normally does and I was worried about her. I started putting wet wash cloths on her head and that helped out a ton.

Proof of our apartment reaching an all time high - 98 degrees! It stayed at 98 until about 10pm one night. We took a car ride with the kids because there is no way Jorgen could sleep in that kind of heat and Shelley ate much better when we were in the air conditioned car.

Poor little baby girl!

This is Jorgen after waking up from him nap. Can you tell how wet his hair is? He walked around drenched in his sweat most of the day....but still a happy camper!

Fortunately, some of our friends, the Wheelwrights, let me take the kids to their air conditioned apartment yesterday while they were out and it was such a blessing because our apartment was 96 degrees when we left. After Justin was finished with work, we picked him up and went to another wonderful family's home. The Crowders let us come to their home to not only enjoy a cool place to hang out but also to watch the last Jazz game of the playoffs. Their sweet girls, Emily and Eliza, took such great care of Jorgen and he has so much fun! We didn't get home until 11pm or so but Jorgen was still chipper as a bird! He was happy to be gone from our sauna of an apartment I think. Thank you Crowders and Wheelwrights for being so good to us!

Loves from Gigi

Our little Shelley and Gigi are 88 years apart! Can you believe it! I still think it's amazing that my Gram is 88 years and still looks, acts, and thinks like she does! She's incredible - not to mention gorgeous! What a huge help she has been while visiting us - she has made the transition to two children a whole lot easier for me! Jorgen has sure loved playing with her and I have enjoyed the time I've been able to spend with her. Thank you Gigi for all of your help, love and support! We will miss you terribly!!!

The Beach and Gigi

This past week has been the best because my sweet Grandma (aka Gigi) came to visit. She has been the biggest help and it has been so much fun spending such quality time with her. Despite being 88 years old, she still thinks, moves, and acts like a young one! She really is a light to all she's around. I sure love her!

Temperatures have hit all time highs the past two days and our apartment reaches a blazing 90 degrees during the day and into the night (thank heaven for fans that can make 90 degrees seem bearable). Yesterday we decided to make an afternoon trip to the beach to show Gigi the coast and to get away from the heat of our apartment. Justin got off work a little early and we headed to Half Moon Bay. It was so pleasant on the beach and I wish I could take Jorgen (I need to start saying "the kids" because where Jorgen goes, Shelley comes too) there every day - especially when it's this hot - because he loved it so much!

Gigi and I relaxing on the beach while Jorgen played in the sand.
Gigi paid so much attention to Jorgen and he loves her so much! Here they are burying their feet in sand.
If you look closely, you can see Jorgen's hair is covered in sand. He could play in it all day long if we let him!
Handsome Boy!
Daddy and Jorgen playing near the water (Jorgen didn't so much like the freezing cold temperature of the ocean)
I could squeeze him all day long! Such a cute smile!

Love her!

Sharing

Jorgen is adjusting pretty well to his new little sister. He loves to share with her all of his toys when she is in the bouncer. He also loves to play in her bouncer but I haven't taken a picture of that yet...

Cute Girl!

We already had our first doctor's visit yesterday to check Shelley's weight. She is gaining weight and is a healthy little lady. I never thought I'd like pink as much as I do now!

Cute little scrunched face.

Jorgen loves laying by her and looking at her - he especially loves showing us all of her features...ever so gently of course:). He is such a great big brother and so far is adjusting very well.

More Hospital Pictures

Our cute little gal!

I love these three so much!!!!!

Princess Shelley

If Jorgen had his way, Shelley would always have a binky in because he loved putting his finger in the whole while she sucked on it.

Jorgen found my toiletry bag and put on my headband all by himself! My toothbrush nicely matched his shirt too. What a crazy boy!!

The bulb syringe made a wonderful water squirter!!!

I could cuddle her all day long!!!

Jorgen loves his little sister!
