hello linus

so, jorgen has his favorite blanket, well, blanketS. he was given two different blankets when he was born that are exactly the same but different colors. we kept both of them because they are the softest and silkiest blankets in the world!! i wish i had one just like it only bigger. the funny thing about these blankets is that i think we conditioned him to like it as much as he does. it all started when jorgen was about four months old and we, well justin is actually the one who started it, would rub the blanket on his cheek before he went to bed then he'd snuggle it so tight. so, that has turned into us giving him the same blanket every night (it's nice to have two because that makes the laundry situation easier) and now during the day, he'll go over to his crib, reach through the crib slats and grab the blanket and drag it along with him as he plays. sometimes i'll hear him start to whine and almost cry and i think he's stuck somewhere or hurt but i go into his room to find him in front of his crib reaching for his blanket, that i've strategically placed out of his reach. i am trying to let him know that blankets are just for bed, not for dragging around but it's a work in progress. he just loves his blanket so much! it's funny how it's a source of comfort. i guess lots of kids have their comfort items: toys, binkies, blankets, stuffed animals. and who am i to stop him from having his comfort blankie with him when he wants it...well, his mother:) does that suffice? it's been said that " mother knows best" which is typically true, but sometimes i wonder;).

i guess since the blankets do mean so much to him, we should come up with names for them....any ideas? something creative, catchy, and most importantly, simple. i'll let you know if i come up with something, but if you have any ideas in the mean time, let me know.

I don't think you should be too worried about Jorgen loving his blankie(s) so much. Miles still has his but he did not take it on his mission......he left it home and survivied Russia just fine! Melissa still has hers too. Her(the blankie is a female) name is "Beeb"!

I know about the conditioning thing. I think I made a big mistake when I let Annie pick out which color binky she wanted at the grocery store a couple of weeks ago!

My Emma is the exact same way! I have to whisk her blankie away in a secretly manner just to throw it in the wash! If she sees me, she starts crying hysterically. Last night I went a bought her a new blankie that looks very similar to her other one so, like you, it makes my laundry situation much better :) She seems to love the new one as much as her old one - yay!
