I never noticed it, but I found out today that I have huge fingers! At Shelley's doctor appointment today the optometrist had me take out Shelley's contact and I thought it would be fairly easy....until my huge fingers got involved! Her contact is smaller than the tip of my pinky finger and I was supposed to pinch it out of her eye with my thumb and index finger. The optometrist had to hold Shelley while I tried to get her contact out. I wasn't successful the first few times and I put my poor baby girl through a very uncomfortable procedure! I don't mind poking at my own eye but I don't think it would be very pleasant for someone else to poke at my eye, and Shelley agreed! I finally got it out and then I had to put in a weaker one. Putting in the contact went much smoother. The ophthalmologist came and took a look, only to say that she still needed the stronger contact...so... I had to take out the weaker one and put back in the original contact. I know this is more detailed than is necessary but I want to remember the first time and how tolerant Shelley is when I prod and poke at her eyes! Tonight is the weekly contact washing night where I have to take out her contact and let it clean overnight and then put it back in in the morning. I am so glad this only happens once a week! Even though I wear a contact, this is new for me to be doing this for someone else. My Shelley bean did very well tonight, and I might add that her mama did a very good job tonight without any help! Shells Bells did not even cry, she just let me open up her eye with my huge fingers and then pop the contact out...she even smiled so big for me after I finished! I guess practice makes perfect. I had to take it out three times today and the third time was definitely the charmer!
My huge fingers now are huge and stubby looking because I had to file down all my nails so that I don't scratch her eye! A small price to pay for my little sweetheart! :)

so for some reason i can't get the sentence after 'huge fingers' to go normal size. it says it is on my edit page but comes up big as well. o well, i guess it makes the post more dramatic;)
isn't perspective amazing!
don't change it - i love how it reads and it is so appropriate where the break occurs. you are awesome! give shell bells kisses and hugs from us - love you all!
aren't we glad she didn't require suckers to bribe her cooperation! :-)
aww bren you dont have HUGE fingers! lol!! Im glad that the 3rd time was the charmer!! I can't imagine how hard that would be but you and shelley are definitely troopers. Glad to know everything is still going ok
That would be so strange I think. Exactly like you said - poking your own eye is a whole different story. Good job Bren. How's your apartment. Hope you are getting settled.
Thanks for letting us raid your apartment today. You are so nice! I even like your HUGE FINGERS! (Just kidding, actually I'm sure they are very normal sized).
I'm glad you figured out how to get that contact out (even if you couldn't figure out how to fix the font! lol). I couldn't even imagine! Also, glad you guys made it to your new place!
ah! you are a brave soul! i remember my first time trying my contacts on at this stupid new doctors office, he had me put them in then take them out. i sat there for an hour grabbing at my BARE EYE because it fell out on its own but he kept making me dig for it. yeah, felt REAL nice. when i scooted back from the mirror to take a break i saw it next to my foot! at least she wont remember it right?
you know, it is so funny. i was talking to erik just the other day about how weird it would be to put contacts in someone else. especially a little baby.
so, thanks for posting this so i know how weird it is.
practice makes perfect!
I think you should post a picture of your huge fingers! SMile.
Well, it would be good for me to have a great reason to not have long beautiful finger nails because I don't have them anyway! I am very grateful and proud of both you and Shelley for being so resilient and adaptable. She is a trooper just like her Mom....very pretty too just like Mom! A great big hug for both of you, Jorgen and Justin too!
