The Shelleys

Justin and I should have known when we decided to name our daughter after her Tutu that our daughter would inevitably try to be just like her Tutu.

Though Tutu did not have congenital cataracts, like our little Shelley, she did have cataracts removed as an adult.
This is my Mom when she was younger. I just found out that my Mother also got glasses at the age of two.
Don't you just love the cat-eyed glasses! What a cutie pie!
Shelley got her glasses last week and is doing so well with them. Her doctor told us to try and shoot for at least two hours a day and then work up to all day because they usually take some getting used to. Our Shelleybean surprised us again by wearing them all day long without a problem. A couple times a day she takes them off and we ask if she needs a break and she says yes. Then a few minutes later she says she needs her glasses back. So she is our superstar patient once again!

Shelley still wears her contacts with the glasses so she can still see well without her glasses. Her glasses are bifocals (you can see the bifocal line really well) so they are to help her see better close up for reading. She had an appointment today and her vision with contacts is 20/20 close up so it was the first time we really got to see how well she could see (they used pictures that she could recognized rather than the usual teller acuity cards).

Justin took Shelley to pick up her glasses and they had a fun date! He took her and got her her first happy meal. She kept saying to him, "Thank you, Daddy! Thank you!" as she was eating.
Here Shell is looking at the picture from Justin's phone of their date.
This one is my favorite. Shell thinks it is so funny!
And here is our studious gal, Lady Shells.
We love you Shelley!

Personally i think Shells looks much cuter than her Tutu and i like her glasses better. Mine were always getting broken and i was constantly 'loosing' them (at 3 i threw them in a tree in an attempt to 'loose' them - little Shells is much more obedient). I think little Shells is a big improvement on her Tutu and she will continually be upstaging me! Thank goodness!

I had glasses when I was her age too! pink ones! She'll forever be remembered for them. People still to this day say " I remember your pink glasses . . . "
She is darling.

what a sweet heart. You are lucky she is so compliant with all of that stuff. I'm also impressed that that was her first happy meal! =) One of TYler's first words was "french fries"

She is just darling!
