What Fun!

A wonderful friend of mine, Ashlee, and I had a fabulous 24 hours in the city the weekend before my birthday! Our husbands surprised us and let us escape while they partied with the kiddos. We had the best time! Even though I missed my family, I cannot tell you how fun it was to just be with a fabulous girlfriend, roaming and exploring the city.

After we checked into our hotel, we walked around the financial district and stopped in at some very fun shops. It was pure bliss just walking around and chatting the night away. Here we are at Union Square at one of the decorative hearts on the corner. We ate dinner at a fun Italian restaurant and were seated at the chefs bar where we got to watch them cook while we enjoyed our meal.

The next morning we got up and headed to this fantastic crepery Ashlee had found. Delicous!
We shared the yummiest crepes! A savory crepe with smoked salmon, capers and onions and then a Nutella and strawberry crepe. Pretty much the best breakfast ever!
We then headed to China Town to see the festivities for Chinese New Year.

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.Britex Fabrics! Wow, four floors of amazing fabrics! I wish I had a project in mind when I went there (and that I was a fabulous seamstress...I just barely figured out how to do a zigzag on my sewing machine:D).

We stopped by a craft museum.

The main display was modern jewelry. Interesting.

We had a yummy lunch and had more fun walking and exploring the city until it was time to catch the train back to Stanford. On our way to the train we saw this hotel...

It was such a fun weekend getaway and I so appreciate our husbands for letting us go play!

Ashlee organized a birthday and baby party for me that was put on yesterday. It was so much fun and I really appreciated all that went into it and for those who helped plan and who came to party. Girlfriends are the best!

Now hopefully the next post will be a baby post...but let's not hold our breathes. I still have two more weeks and I have been known to come later rather than early. So I will enjoy the next two weeks of being a mother of two darling children!
