Day Trip

Saturday was filled with lots of exploring! We took the subway to Masjid Jamek (a mosque). They let the kids and Justin in as is but I had to wear a scarf on my head and a full robe around my clothes. Since Shelley was in the baby carrier, she got to dress up too. I really do not know how women wear this day after day in this heat and humidity. I do admire them for their religious devotion. We hear the call to prayer many times a day because there is a mosque near our apartment and the speakers are so loud, reminding every Muslim, and everyone else, it is time to pray. Sometimes I think it would be nice to be reminded so often to give thanks!

After Masjid Jamek, we walked over to China Town. Jalan Petaling is a street that is blocked off to most cars and is covered with a canope. The street is dedicated to selling fake watches, ties, purses, pens, and the like. It was fun to see everything. We then headed to the Central Market. That was more my kind of shopping. There are many stores (and it is in an air conditioned so we had some relief from the heat) and they carry all sorts of different local handcrafts as well as other things. We did not buy anything for ourselves but it was fun to see what they had. I am sure we'll be back!

After the kids napped, we headed to the Petronas towers. Justin went early in the morning to reserve a spot for us in the evening. It is free but spots fill up the first hour.

We got to first watch a 3-D film on the Petronas towers. Jorgen thought the glasses were pretty sweet!
On the skybridge.
A walking baby girl.

The view from one of the sides of the sky bridge. You can almost see our apartment building, it's on the far left, next to the white building.

A closer look at what is beneath. You can see some of the park if you look closely, most of it is covered with the trees but you can get the picture. Also, there is a water play place that is currently under construction but will be ready for Jorgen and Shelley to splash around in sometime in July. We cannot wait!
A very cute face, can you see her thick mullet? We need to do something about that!

After the tower visit, we decided to get dinner at the mall. Justin said, "I wish they had a Chilis or something like that!" So, we got the mall directory and to our surprise, they had a Chilis!! We were so excited! It was so yummy and fun eating out! We spent more than we would have if we went to a local eatery but the few extra bucks were well worth it! It was also Justin's Father's Day dinner! He is the very best husband and Dad! We love him so much!

While we waited to be seated, the kids played on one of the little rides.
I love this picture!

This is Shelley in a nutshell! Pure crazy happiness!

And take a look at the next two pictures...Can you see who Shelley looks like and gets her expressions from?
On our walk home, the Petronas Towers looked so neat all lit up. Unfortunately, this picture does not do it justice at all.

Keep sending lots of pictures. It is so great to know what you guys are up to and keep in touch via the blogging. At the same time, I am not updating my blog, so bad. Have fun each day and we will plan our temple nights when you get back.

I didnt know you guys already left! It looks like a pretty clean place, is it? I had to chuckle about Shelly's mullet. Issac's hair is growing weird, I had to trim around his ears the other night because it was past his ear lobes. but its nice and short in the back and long up top with the random original hairs that poke out all over! i call it 'shagtasic'

mullets of the world, unite!!

emberD had a mullet. but nothing like shelley's. wow. all this time i thought she had short hair. this is the first time i have seen that hair behind her head. it is so cute. but, i am the one who buzzed two of her girls' hair at 3 months... just not ember's. maybe that is why she got a mullet. but i couldn't bring myself to buzz her hair when she was over a year old.

anyway, yay for pictures of what you are doing and seeing there. i LOVE that you had to dress up. is deodorant sold much over there? we got home here and it has broken 100° EVERY day since. yuck. and NO rain in the forecast. for a LONG time! MISS YOU!
