It has been a fun week! We did not do anything extra adventuresome this weekend but we had fun being together. On Saturday, Jorgen and I went swimming (Justin staying in the room while Shelley napped). Jorgen is becoming a little fish! In the kiddie pool, he can jump up and do a flop on the water and then sink and kick to me. He can't kick very far to me underwater yet but I am so proud of him for even just going under the water and kicking. He loves to jump off of the side into my arms in the big pool. I dunk him and then let him float up and he thinks it is so fun. He is getting so brave! After Shelley's nap, we headed to Petaling street to pick up some shopping requests. I am liking more and more bargaining with the locals. It's like a game! We also picked up a ninja pajama set for Jorgen's birthday and this cute little dress for Shelley.
On a side note: Everyone LOVES to touch our kids - really, everywhere we go, people pinch, squeeze, or rub our kids. It was definitely strange at first, but now it is just part of life here. White kids are a novelty for sure.
Just take a look at these cheeks! I guess I see why they can't resist!
Go Daddy!
"You are what you eat!" ad for McDonalds
(I don't think I need to explain why I think this is HILARIOUS! I guess they have not seen Supersize Me.)
Jorg, Shell and I were waiting in the game room while we were waiting for our laundry. A few Saudi Arabian boys, Abdullah, Abdulaziz, and Ali, were in there playing pool and other games. After a few games of pool, Abdulaziz asked me to play him..."I'm not very good so you might have more fun playing your friends." He responded with something to the effect of "I will play easy." It ended up being really fun and the other boys entertained my kids. Abdulaziz asked me if I was Muslim, and despite my answer, he kept saying throughout the game, "Muslim good, no Muslim, no good!" Really, I cannot count how many times he told me that. One time I asked, "I'm NOT Muslim, so I am no good?" He just looked at me like, "do you really want me to answer that." Wow. I did end up winning though...I hope he thinks non Muslims are at least 'good' at some things:).
Jorgen always gets asked, "What is your name?" by all different kinds of people. I am amazed that he can understand most of them because some have very heavy accents. A couple of times he has been asked, "Where are you from?" and for some reason, he has always replied, "Mayasia." There is usually a look of confusion and not because they didn't understand him, but because they are really wondering if he is actually from Malaysia:) I usually just laugh at it and leave the people wondering:) If they ask me, I do tell them we are from America though.
How do you know when you are neglectful parents? When your son looks at you out of the blue and says "Coming up next on Disney..."
Just a taste at the diversity here, following is a list of countries where people we have met are from:
- Sudan
- Scotland
- Netherlands
- Australia
- Saudi Arabia
- Indonesia
- Thailand
- China
- India
- Russia
- Kuwait
- Gana
- And a few different States
Since Justin and I have been married, the longest ice cream has lasted in our freezer is three days. You know there must be something wrong if it last longer...we have had YAM ice cream in there for over a week. Shelley seems to like it but the rest of us cannot stomach it.

Way to go Justin! Shelley looks like a good sport as well. Love Shelley's dress. She is a beauty just like her Mom....it was so fun to see you all on Friday. Bren I think you should continue to sharpen your pool skills...give those boys a run for their money. Love and hugs to all four...we miss you!

What a beautiful dress on a beautiful little girl :) I love it, love it! ....and, yeah...ice cream goes fast over here, but I'm pretty sure that would still be in our freezer, too :) I'm glad you are loving the diversity there! That's awesome!
