We had a combined birthday party with Jorgen's friend, Ryan, who turned two three days before Jorgen. Heather, Ryan's mom, and I planned a jungle theme party and it turned out so cute....mostly thanks to Heather and her creativity and skills;). Heather's sister made the cutest invitations! We picked a monkey for Jorgen and a giraffe for Ryan. I always call Jorgen my monkey boy - it's so fitting for his crazy adorable self!
We had fun trying to make everything jungle appropriate. There was a snake sandwich, bananas, carrots, animal crackers and other snacks. There was a jungle petting zoo where those who brought their favorite animal friend could leave them to be looked after.

When the kids arrived, they all made monkey, lion, tiger, or giraffe headdresses. Next we played pin the tail on the monkey and only one child pinned it in the right spot (go Evan!). The smaller kids didn't get blindfolded. Jorgen loved it when everyone clapped after he did it - even though it was nowhere near the monkey's bottom.

Then we played a game of catch the lion by the tail (aka duck duck goose). Jorgen LOVED that game.

The food was yummy as you can tell by the smudges all around Jorgen's face in most of the following pictures. Shelley enjoyed a long nap on Justin the during the party:)

I made a monkey cake for Jorgen again (for those who wanted the recipe for the cake, click here...thanks Martha Stewart!) and Heather made cute jungle cookie cutter cookies that were sooo good! The kids also loved the animal paw print cupcakes we made. Jorgen and Ryan had fun playing together as well - I don't know that they really knew it was their party most of the time, they probably would have been totally happy just playing in the sand the entire time. But I do think they had fun and I think everyone else did too. Thanks, Heather, for taking all the pictures (I can't believe I forgot my camera!!! So not like me;D). What a fun day!

that is great. Wish we could have been there. I must say though, like Mother like Daughter I cant believe shelley sleeps with her mouth wide open. Hopefully Jorgen is a nice older brother and doesn't try to put stuff in her mouth while sleeping. lol hopefully he will be nice, unlike some of your siblings :D love you
