Monkey Cake

For his birthday, Jorgen really wanted a monkey cake...wait, let me back up...Jorgen originally really wanted an oatmeal cake but through the power of persuasion, Justin and I convinced him that a monkey cake would be much much more exciting! For the past week or so ever time we'd ask Jorgen what he wanted for his birthday, he'd respond, "monkey cake!" So, Justin found a recipe online (thanks, sweetheart!) and I made it. I am so happy with how it turned out. I am by no means a baker so this was the perfect easy recipe for me. It was pretty tasty too - not your traditional cake but a yummy banana cake (like banana bread with frosting on it basically). Jorgen loved it and loved looking at it. He first ate the eyes and loved having his cake with ice cream especially because he was able to enjoy it with his adopted grandparents Tom and Dixie and also his beloved Uncle Miles and Aunt Siena (pictures to be posted later).

leave it to you to make at least a partially healthy cake for a birthday! what a great idea and the bananas and monkey are so appropriate together - such coordination that would be expected from you - you are so awesome - way to go! aunt barb would be impressed!

I am delighted you made a Monkey Cake! Brings back wonderful creations that Barb made that Mike & Chris and all of us enjoyed. With all those toys he received, I can see Jorgen is going to enjoy his birthday all year long.
